In the Season 2 Episode 4, Patty’s personal investigators soon find the missing ruby ring of Daniel’s dead wife and with the help of security camera they are also able to get a photograph of the man who pawned it. The police soon arrest the criminal and Daniel identifies him as the man who attacked him and killed his wife. Meanwhile, Ellen and Tom travel to West Virginia in an attempt to find evidence against Ultima Natural Resources, which might help Patty in the case. They come across the reporter who had been hired by Daniel and he gives them the sample of the water that he had taken from the Ultima Plant. Patty in turn gives the sample to Daniel who agrees to test it for toxic matter and also promises Patty that he will testify against Ultima. However, at the preliminary hearing Patty is enraged when her hopes of making Ultima Natural Resources, to come out with its doctored environmental reports are turned to dust as Daniel, in spite of being under oath, suddenly changes his testimony. It is later learned that Daniel had accepted a bribe from Ultima and had also destroyed the only evidence by pouring the sample water into the lake.
