I am sure that all you fans of the wonderful show Damages, must have pondered over this thought since the end of Season 2, in early April this year. And if you are wondering why I have suddenly come up with this write up, then let me explain. As I was going through some of my favorite episodes of Damages Season 2, I just noticed that somehow Patty was not shown to be able to control things to that extent as we had seen her do in Season 1.

There were ample examples, in the various episodes of Season 2, which made me wonder where the storyline was heading to. The fact that she could even doubt Uncle Pete, who was perhaps her only family, came as a surprise. She seemed to have easily forgotten that it was Uncle Pete who had been the face of most of her unlawful activities, performed in her past.

Then there was Tom who had been a confidante of Patty in Season 1. But somehow, differences seemed to have cropped up between the two and when Tom refused to bribe the judge on her behalf, it could be deduced that he was trying to get an edge over Patty as well as trying to remind her of all her previous wrongdoings.

In addition, the words of warning given by Daniel Purcell to Patty, seemed to somehow confirm the idea of Patty’s down fall. Daniel, who has also fathered Patty’s son Michael, tries to dissuade her from following the same path that led him to his own destruction. Realizing the futility of living beyond law, he pleads with Patty to mend her ways, before it is too late.

And last though not the least is Ellen, who throughout the season, was seen building up a case against Patty in close co-ordination with the FBI. It remains to be seen whether Patty is able to defend herself against the conspiracies of fate. Given the intelligence and shrewdness of Patty, she might still come up with something that would turn the tables on her enemies. All this, however, can only be seen in the next season which we hope will arrive soon.

Hey people! It’s not everyday that one gets an opportunity to act opposite veterans like Nicholas Cage. So when Damages tv show star Rose Byrne, landed a role opposite Cage in a movie directed by Alex Proyas, it was one of the happiest occasions of her life. The movie is thrilling mystery drama about a professor who tries to prevent a series of prophecies recovered from a time capsule from becoming true, with the help of the daughter of the person who had made the prophecies. Reportedly, Alex choose Rose to play the role of Diana in Knowing as he thought that her personality suited the character perfectly and she could do full justice to the role. According to Rose, she found the plotline of the movie quite interesting as it was a great blend of science and spiritually and her character had to face catastrophic consequences because of certain wrong decisions made by her forefathers. We have known Rose to be a talented and versatile actress through her various television and movie projects in the past. Even in her current show, Damages, she has played the role of Ellen Parsons to the hilt. Perhaps her greatest quality is that she not only gets immersed in to the character totally, but also adds her personal qualities to the character which make it more realistic.

I have been watching Damages from the very first episode and I have been addicted to the show since then. Even though every character is quite distinct and important in its own unique way, I have always loved the character of Ellen the most. I would be lying, if I tell you that I am not biased towards Rose, as an actress. I fell in love with the gorgeous lady long before her appearance on Damages. Though I grew to love the show as I continued watching it, but initially I just watched the show to see Rose as a bright and sharp law school graduate determined to do good in the world. The show which is currently airing its Season 2 has not only left me enchanted, but for millions of others have it has become a ritual to tune into FX Network every Wednesday night to watch Damages!

Damages, the critically acclaimed series has launched its second season. And it promises plenty of scheming and dealings. In the first season you saw Patty Hewes (Glenn Close), a New York litigator taking up the case of $2 billion suit against a businessman.

The second season starts with Ellen holding a weapon but no one knows her target yet.

William Hurt (An Oscar winner) has joined in the cast as a desperate client and another Oscar winner Marcia Gay will enact the role of a strong-minded lawyer

Patty is in a weak spot and the story line would be revolving around Ellen and Patty.

Actor Glenn Close says: “She’s been highly, highly traumatized, I think the Ray Fiske (Emmy-winner Zeljko Ivanek) suicide spun her into a place that she’d never been before. She lost control, she put a hit out on Ellen, there’s a lot that she regrets, and you have to take that into consideration.”

He further states “I think she regains control and, if anything, is more fierce in her commitment to bringing down people that she thinks are bad,”

Although Patty won’t be shown in more positive shades, yet there will be a murder case that will grow into a huge conspiracy later.

The co-creator of the show Daniel Zelman states “She really, genuinely hates bullies. Her compass is sort of always attuned to where the bullies are in society, and she’s always looking to stand up for the weak against the bullies.”

On Hurt’s character Zelaman points out that “He has a past with Patty, and Patty actually starts the season trying to help him.”

I think many of us agree here. The concept of the show is fantastic.

And what better words to close this then to use Close’s

“I think what Hollywood is putting out is kind of general entertainment for, what is it, 15-year-olds to 25-year-olds … I think we’re doing — as pioneered by The Sopranos — these dramatic, long, 13-hour, complex, character-driven mega-movies.

The most recent addition to the star cast of “Damages” is Marica Gay Harden. Harden will play the role of a powerful attorney in opposition to Hewes in the second season. Harden has won an Oscar for best actress in supporting role in “Pollock” in 2000. She has also won an Emmy award for her guest role in “Law and Order”. Harden has also worked in movies like “Flubber”, a sci-fi comedy, “Meet Joe Black” and “Mystic River”.

The series is due to return in early 2009, with two more new actors joining up in the second season. Along with Harden, Timothy Olyphant and William Hurt will also join the “Damages” team.
