Danson grew up playing Basketball. It was only when he was attending college that his interest in acting grew up. Danson also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama. Danson started his television career with “Somerset”, a day time soap opera. He is best known for his role in the sitcom “Cheers”, for which he also got Emmy Award for Best Actor in 1990 and 1993. Danson is currently playing the role of a corrupt businessman, Frobisher in the legal series “Damages”. He has also worked in movies like “Just between Friends”, “Made in America”, “Saving Private Ryan”. He is most famous for his role in the “Three Men and a Baby”.
Besides his acting career Danson has shown interest in environmental activities since his childhood. Time and again he has been working for environmental issues and has donated over $500,000, from his own money.
Danson is married to actress Mary Steenburgen, and is stepfather to her two children. Before marrying Mary Steenburgen, he was married to Randy his first wife and then to Casey Coates from 1977-1993, his second wife.
